Our church secretary called me on my day off, Monday. How dare she! I was busy doing some home chores and she called to tell me that we had received, what looked like, a check for $10,000. I have seen things like this before, a check with a large sum of money printed on it, but in reality, once you sign it and take it to the bank, you find out that you just agreed to borrow a large sum of money.
I told her not to do anything with it until I got there the next day, and then went about my home chores.
The next day when I came in, I examined the “check” and the accompanying letter carefully. What I discovered was that we had just received a donation from an anonymous donor for $10,000!
First, to all those who have given $500, $200, $100, $50, $20, $5, on behalf of our church I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. We are a small church, about 60 on a good day. We don’t raise money the way others do, we let the Lord meet our needs. And so far, He has done a tremendous job, laying the needs of our ministry on the hearts of those who gave.
Secondly, thank you to the donor behind the $10,000 gift. I have prayed for you and asked God to give you a blessing for your kindness, and as I prayed, I felt unworthy of the gift that was given. You all have humbled me before God by your graciousness. Again, thank you!
