The following email was sent to me yesterday. I know some of you were at one time, Roman Catholic. If you have any advice for her, send an email to me and I will forward it to her. Thanks!
Dear Pastor Hoggard,
I do not wish to take up much of your time. I merely email to ask some advise on dealing with an American Catholic friend of mine.
I have plenty of material on Roman Catholicism on hand. However, due to my friend’s ‘liberated’ beliefs, it is very hard to deal with her through attacking the doctrine of her church alone- particularly as in many cases, she does not believe the doctrine herself.
I am quite young and inexperienced. I am also ignorant myself and only just starting to learn things. And, I am ashamed to admit, I am not in the best state spiritually. (I shan’t trouble you with details or ‘excuses’ why, but a lot of it is due to emotional trauma and neglect.)
Do you know a dependable ex-Catholic Believer who would be prepared to spend some time with me through email correspondence and advice me best how to understand and reach my friend’s soul?

I would say that it’s noble for this person to be concerned about the soul of their friend, but this person needs to be concerned with their own soul’s development first. She mentioned emotional trauma, neglect and inexperience. These are the things she needs to be working out with Jesus through prayer, fasting and the washing of the Word.
A new Christian has no business trying to save someone else. I was once like her after leaving my parent’s religion of the Jehovah Witnesses and becoming a Christian. I tried to witness to my parents with data, bible verses, proof of masonic origins and so forth, but they rejected it. Then it was revealed to me what I will write now.
Paul, the apostles, and the new believers of the new testament all spent a great deal of time with Jesus before they were mature enough to go and save others (through the power and leading of the Holy Spirit). The Spirit showed them what to say and who to talk to.
Finally, this is a spiritual problem. No amount of information presented, no amount of molestation cases shown and no ex-catholic can really shake someone from Catholicism (or any other religion) because it is a spirit blinding them and casting a delusion. Until the person wants the truth and begins to seek it, they will stay bound, blind and delusional (2 Thess 2:1-12).
All you can do is pray that the demon spirit be removed. I would pray and ask God on how to precede in the situation instead of trying to help the friend in the flesh. The Holy Spirit will tell you how to precede or that you should leave the friend alone (Acts).
